Women into IT (2005 - 2007)
The aim of this project was to increase IT skills for women
looking for employment or business or wishing to go into further
study in IT. The project team engaged 338 women living in East
London.
Women into IT was a successful project, particularly in the
field of targeting Ethnic Minority women - an area that often fails
in these types of initiatives. The project indicated an excellent
success rate in engaging hard to reach beneficiaries who would
consider themselves as Black and Minority Ethnic (BME).
The project supported 160 NVQ L2/L3 133 women to complete their
Eurpean Computer Driving Licence on the project, 12 women
progressed into employment, 20 women progressed into further
education.
84% of the women found that the ECDL course provided them with
the relevant skills they needed to source employment in the IT
sector.
